The Third Try

This is my 3rd "official" painting. I say the last one didn't count ;) This was my first painting on canvas. I tried a different type of sky in this one, which gave the painting a whole different feel. This was my first attempt at creating clouds with the fanbrush. I'm pretty happy with them. I'd like a bit more definition, but for a first attempt it was pretty good. Also I've learned you need to use a lot of paint when doing it. I did like how the mountains came out a lot more in this one. The knives feel a bit less awkward and I was able to get the paint to break. When doing them I followed some advice I found online and scraped the excess paint off a few times, then blended, then cleaned the brush, then blended again so there was very little paint on the canvas, then I did the highlights. Then I tapped in some foothills. I ended up covering one of them up trying to create bushes.

Halfway Through

I progressed on trying to create bushes and royally failed at it as usual. I wasn't paying attention to how I was loading the brush initially though. I think I need to go watch Mr Bob and see how he loads it, and actually do what he tells me next time ;)

After that I put in some land for the waters edge. That came out good, then covered most of it up with grass. The reflections came out ok and the foreground land I had the most trouble with. The highlights on the left side just wern't working for me. But I tried a pine tree again, I like the shape better than before, but the highlights just weren't applying right. I was having a very hard time getting the paint to stick.
